Major Outage (Resolved)
Affecting System - | Priority - Critical
Unfortunately our data centre provider are currently experiencing an outage which is affecting all systems.
We own and operate all of our own hardware which is co-located in a dedicated rack at at our data centre provider HA Hosting.
As this is caused by their outage we unfortunately have to wait for updates and monitor their status page at www.hahosting.info
We apologise for the downtime - we hate downtime as much as anyone but rest assured they are working on this now and we dont expect the outage to last very long. We have had excellent uptime since we moved our hardware to HA Hosting but unfortunately these things do happen from time to time.
All customers can check their uptime from our Customer Portal by navigating to the Services page, click the hosting package or VPS server and then check the Monitoring tab - this data is pulled in live from Uptime Robot who we pay to do checks at 1 minute intervals on every single piece of hardware (firewall, switches, servers, VPS and backup servers) and while other providers wouldn't provide this information to customers as it highlights any downtime we are confident in our Data Centre provider and our infrastructure so have integrated this facility at no extra cost to our customers.
Once again we apologise and hopefully this will be resolved shortly.
Thanks
Northgate Web

Intermittent connectivity to all services (cP (Resolved)
Affecting Server - cloud01.northgateweb.uk | Priority - Critical
Customers may have noticed intermittent connectivity to all services this evening. While our initial investigation pointed to a problem with connectivity at the Data Centre as the problem continued further investigation found the intermittent connectivity was being caused by a VPS server within our network making over 100mbps of outbound connections at intermittent intervals which saturated our current firewall that is provided as a managed service by our Data Centre provider HA Hosting - this caused intermittent connectivity to all services. We quickly identified and shutdown the VPS in question and notified the customer.
Unfortunately these things do happen from time to time, but we already have upgrades in progress that would prevent this type of problem in future. We are in the process of upgrading our whole network which includes a new shared server, a new VPS host, a new local backup server and replacing our current firewall with a Mikrotik RB3011 which has 1gbps throughput and would not be affected by the incident this evening.
More information on our network upgrades to follow in the next week or two! Unfortunately this will mean some planned downtime while we move the existing servers into the same rack as our new equipment at the data centre. With our current plans the downtime would be at 9am on a date which we will circulate well in advance for approximately 30 mins - 1hr.

Intermittent outage (Resolved)
Affecting Server - Northgate Web Cloud Hosting | Priority - Critical
**UPDATE**
To all customers;
Unfortunately Northgate Web experienced a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) Attack1 which has been causing our shared platform to be intermittent since early Saturday morning. At 09:45am on Tuesday AM, we have the platform stabilised. The attack that we received was sent by a botnet2, causing the biggest attack that our data centre provider, Melbourne IT, have ever seen.
The attack is still ongoing however we have now moved our shared platform to another data centre in Nottingham which has brought all sites and email accounts live again. We also now have additional DDoS protection for attacks of up to 1000GB/s. Please note, there was no security vulnerabilities in our systems and no sensitive information was lost or stolen.
We are still waiting on a full report from our data centre provider and once we have this we can share the details to explain the situation as much as possible. We are unsure if this was an attack towards Northgate Web or if this was an attack towards one of our customers, however with the sheer scale of the attack it is likely that the customer will have been threatened before the attack.
We now have our new platform live which is currently running faster on the whole. Thank you for your patience with the matter and we will continue to be as clear as possible with the issues that we have experienced over the last few days.
If you have any questions or concerns before our full report, please do not hestitate to contact Jason on jason@northgateweb.uk, or Jordan on jordan@northgateweb.uk.
Thanks again,
Northgate Web
